Maternity leave: University of Melbourne women's health experts available for comment

University of Melbourne women’s health experts are available for comment on proposals by the Productivity Commission to introduce a paid maternity leave scheme.

Associate Professor Jane Fisher from the Key Centre for Women’s Health in Society, is an expert in the mental health and wellbeing of new mothers and can comment on the possible health implications of introducing paid maternity leave.

Amanda Cooklin is a researcher in the Key Centre for Women’s Health in Society, and has recently completed studies on how lack of maternity leave impacts on the mental health of pregnant women, and on how returning to work affects breastfeeding rates among Australian women.

Dr Heather Rowe is a health scientist from the Key Centre for Women’s Health in Society. She specializes in women’s reproductive and mental health.
